Operating strategy · Introductions
The answer isn't
in the deck.
It's in .
JCi is small on purpose. We work the problem in front of you, and when the problem turns out to be a person, we know how to reach them.
Names withheld. That's the whole service.
The short version
Most consulting stops
at the recommendation.
Ours stops when the thing actually happens. Some weeks that's a model and a hard hour with your board. Other weeks it's a dinner that took eleven years of relationships to arrange.
Ground rules
Three things
we won't do.
No registered advocacy, no quiet campaigns. An introduction is an introduction, and everyone at the table knows who arranged it.
Fixed or retained, agreed up front. Nobody should have to wonder whether our advice is really our advice.
Not in a pitch, not on a panel, not to win the next one. Your logo will never appear on this site.
How an engagement runs
Four moves.
It rarely takes more. It sometimes takes longer.
Intake
Two hours, no slides. You tell us the real version, including the part you've kept from your board.
Map
We work out who actually decides. It's almost never the person on the org chart.
Approach
A call, a lunch, a letter that lands on the right desk. Timing beats volume every time.
Follow-through
We stay in it until the deal closes, the order lifts, or the door shuts for good.
What we do
Four things,
done properly.
If your problem isn't on this list, say so anyway. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right call.
Operating strategy
You have a number to hit and a year to hit it. We come in, find where the margin actually leaks, and build the plan with the people who'll have to run it after we've gone.
No forty-slide diagnostic. A short document, a set of decisions, and us in the meetings where those decisions get made.
Retained · 8 to 16 weeksDeal-side counsel
Buy-side, sell-side, or the joint venture that's been stalled since spring. We work alongside your bankers and your lawyers, not in place of them.
Our value tends to show up in the quiet part. Who the counterparty trusts. What they actually need in order to say yes. What they'll never put in writing.
Fixed fee · Per transactionAccess & introductions
This is the part people call about and don't put in an email. A capital source that doesn't take cold approaches. A ministry that won't return the embassy's call. A founder who's been ignoring you since 2024.
We make the introduction when we believe in it, and we decline when we don't. Our name goes on the request, and we only get to spend it once.
Retained · SelectiveSituations
A regulator opened a file. An activist took a position. A story runs Friday and your comms shop is out of ideas.
We work with your counsel, under privilege where that's appropriate, and we're comfortable being the person in the room who says the unpopular thing.
Day rate · ImmediateFit
Who we're
good for.
Companies between two hundred million and five billion in revenue. Family holdings. Funds with a portfolio problem that isn't financial. Now and then a founder with nothing but conviction and a real shot.
We take a handful of engagements at a time. That isn't scarcity marketing. It's a headcount problem we've decided not to solve.
The team

Deliberate. Our people are useful to clients precisely because they aren't searchable, quotable, or booked on a panel next month.
JCi started from a plain observation: the shops with the best decks rarely have the best phone books. We built it the other way around. Everyone here ran something before they advised anyone, and most still get calls from the industry they left.
You'll meet the people working your file in the first week, and you'll know exactly who they are. It just won't be here.
How we behave
Discretion is a habit,
not a promise.
Nothing about your engagement leaves the building. No marketing list, no published client roster, no referencing your work to win someone else's.
We also turn down work that conflicts, and we say so early rather than managing around it. If we've been in a room with your competitor, you'll hear it from us before you hear it anywhere else.
Contact
Start with
the real version.
A paragraph is plenty. Someone senior reads every one of these, and you'll hear back inside a business day.
Received. Someone will come back to you within a business day, and it'll be a person, not an autoresponder.
